Vandana Pal and Jayesh Prajapati are the co-authors of recently published Alfresco 4 Enterprise Content Management Implementation which provides guidance on managing your business documents with standard practices to automate business processes.

Vandana has over 4 years of extensive experience in implementing Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Web Content Management, and System Integration with hands-on experience in implementing Alfresco-based solutions for various domains.

Jayesh has wide experience in implementing Enterprise Web Applications using J2EE technologies. For the past six years, at CIGNEX, he has rolled out numerous Alfresco deployments worldwide. He has also implemented Integrated Content Management Portal (ICMP) where Alfresco as central repository serves Liferay and Flex based portal.

1. This is your first experience of authoring a book. How is the overall experience?

VP: Becoming an Author of book is an amazing experience, learnt a lot.

JP: I have read many books so far but writing book was completely new experience for me. Till now I came across different phase of software development life-cycle but this was completely different than what I do day-to-day.

2. Who should read this book and why?

VP: Apart from Alfresco Developers, this book can be read by CxOs and system administrators. Book covers important aspects of Document management like security, configuration, search and workflow. It also explains integration of forms processing software with Alfresco.

JP: Anybody who wants to deep dive in Alfresco can read this book. Reader will learn right from installation to administration and its best practices.

3. Any learning or interesting experience you will like to share?

VP: Book authoring was a completely new experience for me. Explaining the concepts to readers in details with examples was a great learning.

JP: It’s always easy to perform any integration but when it comes to putting it in words and also ensure that reader understands it, is really difficult! You have to make sure that you describe relevant terms and concepts so that reader can comprehend it.

4. How do you contribute to Open Source Community?

VP: Forums is a great way to reach out to people and that’s my bit of contribution to the community.

JP: I have around 6+ years of experience in implementing Alfresco (ECM) for various customers. I am really happy that through this book I would be able to share my knowledge with Open Source community.
